This year’s Mac World has not been the crazed spectical that it once has been. With Jobs not presenting the keynote, and with word that this is Apple’s last presentation at the conference, and the way the economy has been, this year’s buildup has been much more quiet. I am not sure what to expect from today’s keynote, but lets just say I am not getting my hopes up, nor getting my index finger ready to refresh my browser every 15 seconds. TUAW has a good roundup of things they’ve heard. You can find the article here. There isn’t much that I need in the way of Apple tech…that is until the iPhone is available from Verizon…and since that won’t happen for awhile, I think the final Apple keynote will pass with a small pop, not the normal big bang.

Sad Day in Star Trek Land
I just read that Majel Barrett (Gene Roddenberry’s widow) passed away a few days before Christmas from leukemia. She was 76 years old. Her memorial was on Sunday in California with family and friends. Though most would not recognize her from the early days of Star Trek, some might know her from the reprising role she played on TNG, and DS9. She was also the voice of the computer for the Enterprise and Voyager. Though Star Trek has hit a bit of a dry spell as of late, I hope at some point someone can come up with a story that will bring its popularity back. Though I am looking forward to the movie, I am not really getting my hopes up. For those who want to read more about Majel’s passing, here is a decent article on her life:
