Well it’s not exactly where I want it to be just yet, but I’ve moved sites to a new server, and with it comes a new format and look. I haven’t had a chance to update the blog part first, but in case any of you wonder what has happened to exit118.net, I wanted to make sure you knew of my new site. In the next few months there will be some really big changes. My current setup really restricts what I can do format, and content wise so I wanted to find a new platform to allow me to do that. I think the move I’ve made will be temporary, until I can finish my true home, but it’s a start. So check out the new site at:

I Really Am Still Here
I want to make sure people don’t think I have abandoned my site. Really the complete opposite has happened. I have been working on a project behind the scenes, and thought I had everything in order, and then a pretty big set back. I am working on a plan, and will have something soon. If I get a chance to post some news I will, but I’ve been spending a lot of my energy on my new project, and this little wedding we’ve been planning.
Thanks for your patience!!!!

What I Came Home To…
I usually don’t post pictures of my cats since Sam does a good enough job of that, but I just had to post pictures of how my cat Zoe got our kitchen decorated for when we got home from work.

and…

I think she might be trying to tell us its time to recycle some of our extra grocery bags!!

BearingPoint Sold Off In Pieces
Most of you will not care, but my old stomping grounds were sold off to its competitors in little pieces this week. BearingPoint declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy near the end of February with hopes of restructuring its debt load. That didn’t happen, so the company was broken off into two parts; Public Service practice was sold to Deloitte, and the Commercial practice was sold to PriceWaterhouse. The commercial practice was sold for a measly 25 million bucks. Kinda makes me happy that I jumped ship when I did. Anyone that is interested, click the link below:

Google Voice – Trying To Take On The Telcos — Also a Mini Milestone For Me
We already know that Google has sites on the mobile phone industry with the release of the G1 – A T-Mobile phone running the Google O/S. Now they are trying to become your hub of anything telephone related. Though it’s still in a closed Beta, Google released some new information on what they are calling “Google Voice”. Google wants to become your phone hub by providing VoIP service with some bells and whistles. Once you get a phone number you can have the call sent to any number of places, online, your land line, or your mobile phone. The really neat feature they are going to have is retrieving your voice mail online, over the phone, or through email once they translate the voice mail speech to text. After reading some reviews it seems the voice to text needs some work, but I guess that’s why it is still in beta. Google is also going to allow you to search your voice mail just like it works with Gmail. Think about this, someone sends you a voice mail. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to search through your voice mails from like 6 months ago and get the information you need without having to get on the phone and go through all your saved messages?
There are some faults. I already mentioned the work that is needed for the voice translation, but the big bummer to me is that you would also need to get a new phone number. To some people that is like getting a new identity. I know I’ve had the same number for almost 9 years, and if I had to get that new number to everyone I knew, it wouldn’t be an easy task. Also who is to say that the service will continue indefinitely. Say Google doesn’t find a way to make money off the service, what’s to stop them from stopping the service, and then you will have to get another number back to everyone you know. Doesn’t sound like something I would want to deal with.
The good things about it, like I mentioned was the voice mail features, but also with one number you could be reached wherever you are: office, home, or the road since it can forward your call to a number of places. You’ll also have unlimited calling nationwide for free, and cheap calling abroad. And also the biggest thing this will all be FREE. It bugs me to no end that with every little tiny thing that Verizon comes up with like visual voice mail, or backing up your contacts, it costs money. I love their coverage, but really dislike most of everything else about them.
Below is a like to some more info on the service. They didn’t give a time frame, but they said Google Voice will be released to the pubic in the next few weeks.
Oh and the mini milestone I mentioned in the heading. This is the 100th post of my new blog. Hopefully I’ll be able to tell you when I reach my 1000th post…but lets not get ahead of ourselves
Thanks to all the people following along!

Sorry About The Downtime
For those that visit my blog through wordpress directly, or use an RSS feeder you probably didn’t see a difference, but for those that have been visiting my actual site (exit118.net), you probably couldn’t reach my site for the past few days. I was just informed the company I registered my domain and couples my name to their DNS have been down for the past 3 days. I was wondering why traffic had been way down the past few days.
Anyway now that they are back up, I hope my lost visitors return!
